Professor Mefleh and graduate student Mimi Veness will participate in the May 2024 seminar 'Our Food, Our Health, Our Planet' in Padova for the project 'Schools Beyond Regions and Borders.' Professor Mefleh will talk about novel foods, and Mimi Veness will discuss her MA thesis on cultivated meats with the students.
Launched in February 2021 with support from Regione Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, the University of Trento, and Fondazione Bruno Kessler, 'Schools Beyond Regions and Borders' is a visionary project that unites educators and students from diverse professional, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds. The project's primary goal is to cultivate civic awareness and citizenship competence in secondary school students, empowering them to become proactive change-makers in their communities and fostering a sense of belonging to the larger European community.
Through themed online seminars, the project promotes multilingual interaction and collaborative projects with schools in Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Spain, and the United Kingdom. Strategic alliances with initiatives such as ARENAS (Countering Extremist Narratives) and GrACE (Teacher Training Green Europe: Active Citizenship and the Environment) demonstrate the project’s commitment to addressing contemporary challenges while also promoting a more inclusive and imaginative Europe for tomorrow.
